A Line in the Sand

The LGBT community is closing in on America. It has come to a time where people must decide their stance on the issue. There are pro-LGBT protesters on the street and preachers against the LGBT community in the churches. To see someone with a lukewarm stance on the topic is now a rarity. I predict that soon, an apathetic stance on the issue will be virtually nonexistent.

Originally, most United States citizens were not against or rooting for the LGBT movement. “As long as these people are not interfering with my life”, the congregation thought, “what reason do I have to oppose them?” “They are law-abiding citizens, are they not?” “Their moral decisions have no bearing on my life.” “Just leave them alone.” “They do not concern us.” The silent majority was riddled with indecision and apathy.

Now the sexual revolution has become more extreme. Several moral and political issues are arising concerning this topic. This is now more than a matter of religious views.

A bakery owner in Oregon declined to make a cake for a gay couple's wedding. The baker was immediately persecuted for reserving the right to refuse service to the couple.  The business owner is now charged with a $135,000 state-ordered fine as reimbursement to a same-sex couple who were denied service. The bakery was shut down after several protests by the LGBT community. When a business owner, due to his religious stance against homosexuals, refuses to service the individual and gets sued, this becomes not a moral issue, but a political one. When the government is ushered in to financially ruin a business owner for simply standing true to his faith this becomes religious persecution. The LGBT community is persecuting citizens.

Who gets involved when an issue such as the one described happens? Political authority does. The government is stepping in on several cases of conflict concerning LGBT. This is not about gay rights anymore.

Congress has decided to now give everyone a license to marry. Firstly, a license is an indicator that you do not have the right to do something. Licenses are a thing governments issue specifically to prevent a person from doing something until they get government permission to do so. Licenses, by definition are a constriction on rights; a limit on freedom. To license, a thing is to outlaw it and then to grant one permission to break that law. Secondly, to say that you are fighting for gay rights by seeking to have licenses issued to them is a complete failure to know what a right is. You have guessed it, Uncle Sam is using the LGBT community to make himself even more immense. Federal powers have now stepped in to take control on whether or not certain individuals are permissible for marriage, an issue not mentioned in the constitution. An issue the government has no business being in. This is a huge step backwards for citizen’s liberties and freedoms. The sexual revolution is expanding government power.

The LGBT community is violent. Protests for “gay rights” are oftentimes malicious, disrespectful and uncouth. The riots are far from peaceful.

Editor Matt Comer reports on a LGBT riot by stating the following: “They attacked cops, after hitting them with personal items, resisting arrest and escaping detainment. They hurled bottles and other debris through the air. One cop's eye was badly cut. Police officers were forced to barricade themselves inside a business to protect them from the unruly mob, which in turn uprooted a parking meter trying to break down the locked door and then tried to burn the business down while the cops were inside -- a business many considered their "home."

They set garbage cans on fire. They marched through the streets blocking traffic and stopping cars and busses full of people, intimidating passengers -- including a newly wedded couple -- into supporting their cause. They overturned one car and used it as a barricade against a police phalanx. They set another car on fire. They smashed the windows of at least one police cruiser.”

The sexual revolution is contributing to persecution, big government and violence in the United States. After all the events that have taken place, it is difficult to stay neutral. America is now drawing a line in the sand. It is time to choose a side.
